5 year anniversary and Koi tattoos

My wife and I celebrated our 5th anniversary together, on Thursday, May 4th. Needless to say, it's always easy for us to find a party for our anniversary. Stick out tongue [:P]

On saturday, we drove up to Dallas and after scouring Deep Ellum for the proper service and skill, we chose Smooth Groove Tattoo to get our anniversary tattoos done. I gotta say thanks to Brit, the store manager - he was amazing to work with. He took the time to talk about our tattoo ideas, how we wanted them laid out, the colors we wanted, and what to think about in the future. Most of the other places we stopped in were just saying "yeah, we can do that" over and over again, no matter what I asked. Smooth Groove really excelled in the service area.

My tattoo was done by Saul. It took an hour for him to get it drawn up and 4 1/2 hours in the chair for him to finish. The original estimate was closer to 8 hours for time, but apparently have healthy skin. I took a few breaks, but went for at least an hour at a time in the chair. I wanted to get it done sooner, rather than later. Saul was great - very focused, excellent choice in music (from raggae, to hip-hop, to death-metal), and a lot of fun to talk to.

My wife got her tattoo done by Bobby. It was only a small modification from a piece hanging on the wall, so it only took a few minutes to draw up and about 45 minutes in the chair for her. By the time she was done, I was just getting started. Fortunately, she had a couple of books with her, to keep her entertained.

I plan on continuing my tattoos in the future. Perhaps I'll one day have a full jacket. Who knows...
