Dear Microsoft,
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE turn "Option Strict" ON by default, in VB.NET 2005 RTM!!! I just installed the release candidate, and my heart sank as my eyes filled with tears when i saw that Option Strict is still OFF by default, in VB.NET.
I can't even begin to stress how important it is to have this option on by default. I've encounter numerous bugs and "magic features" that "just work" because option strict is off by default. How many more years of heartache and pain are we going to suffer through, writing code that is not type safe by design, because Microsoft decided to leave option strict off by default?!
Oh, the horror... the horror...
